About Las Vegas Charter School of the
Deaf and Hard of Hearing (LVCSD)
The LVCSD Board envisions a Charter school that provides a rich language
and cultural environment instructing students in American Sign Language,
English, reading, writing, mathematics and speech/lip-reading that
follows Nevada Department of Education standards.
Deaf and hearing professionals must be well prepared for this type of
work, and have excellent communication and language skills to become
highly-qualified and effective teachers.
Students who attend LVCSD will learn about living in a world of two
cultures: Deaf and hearing. This will prepare them to be successful
productive members of our community and society.
Today, LVCSD is moving
into their new home where Deaf and Hard of Hearing children
will have an exciting and rewarding educational experience!
The school is opening on August 25, 2008. Enrollment
opens July 7, 2008. LVCSD
intends to be a model school for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing in the
state of Nevada.
