EVELYN L. PRESTON
I am thrilled to be a part of this exciting venture. It has been a long time dream of mine to see a school exclusively for Deaf children in Nevada. I have been deaf since the age of 3. I was raised in California and attended public schools where the method of instruction was speech and lip-reading.  I learned American Sign Language at the age of 18 when I met my husband who was Deaf and a graduate from the California School for the Deaf in Berkeley. After working for many years as a Key Punch Operator. I returned to college and graduated with an AA Degree at the age of 56. I began teaching American Sign Language to adults in the community college setting and upon my “retirement” calculated that I had taught for 44 years. Currently, at the age of 86,  I work as an American Sign Language Mentor/Tutor for ASL and Interpreting students at the College of Southern Nevada.
